Local Author Submission

Welcome Local Authors!

The Library wishes to recognize the creative efforts of local residents and include their materials in the collection where suitable. Those considered local self-published authors currently reside in Innisfil or their work(s) pertain to or are of direct interest of the Town of Innisfil. The works in question have been printed independently and/or at one’s own expense.

All authors who submit their work must have a library card in good standing with the Innisfil ideaLAB & Library. For more information on how to get a Library card, please visit our Join the Library webpage.

Materials submitted are subject to the same Selection Criteria outlined in the Collection Management Policy

Innisfil ideaLAB & Library no longer accepts donations of self-published material. In order to be considered for the collection, local authors must submit their information through this form.

The Process

Once the form has been received, the materials are reviewed by the selector responsible for that particular collection with consideration for the Library’s established Selection Criteria from the Collection Management Policy.

The Library is not obligated or able to notify every author of the final decision nor can Library staff meet with individuals to discuss their work.

The Library reserves the right to include or exclude any title from the collection for any reason. Any title in the Library’s collection may be removed for any reason, at any time.

The Library is unable to offer promotional services for the material, including but not limited to, marketing, reviews, or any promotions. Titles may be included in standard Library promotions when they fit the theme/brief, as determined by Staff; however, there is no promise to do so.

Only one copy of each work will be considered. The Library is under no obligation to purchase additional copies. If the Library does choose to acquire more copies, it will do so through a vendor established with the Library and not directly through the author.

Each item accepted will receive basic cataloguing and processing and will be available to borrow.
